Certainly not. It's a marketing decision that every company needs
to make, whether it is getting enough new customers that it can
afford to lose old customers by not continuing to meet their needs.
BTW, in case you didn't know, it is still possible to buy brand
spanking new motherboards for 486 processors, which continue
to be used for various embedded computing applications. For
every niche market there is somebody willing to step in to supply
what is needed.

Look at it from another perspective. A Model T could still serve perfectly
for your daily commute. But do you expect Ford to continue making parts,
gas companies to continue offering lead-additive gasoline, and the rest of
traffic to slow down, so that you can continue to drive your antique?
