Re: Hardware Requirements for a New Job
And may I be the very first to ask, 'What do you want this new computer
to do?'
I thought my work computer had a decent spec, until I found myself
mucking around with VMware...
LOL... same here! I'm a bit of a Linux nut, but work forces me to use
Windows and Windows-based software - so my laptop runs Linux, and
WinXP inside a VMWare virtual machine. Bumping up the RAM improved
performance drastically (unlike the US, in India the Acer models come
with 256MB by default; I now have mine running 768MB, and it's quite
good to work with).
CPU is an AMD Turion ML-30 (1.6GHz). Although slow by desktop
standards, I rarely have to wait untenable periods for things to
happen. So I'm happy :-)
