If you have the option of shipping the type with your online help,
experiment with a family of typefaces, like Univers. A family of faces
provides a high level of visual cohesion between units of text.
If you have to stick to standard typefaces available on Windows, you
might want to look at Tahoma and Palatino Linotype. Tahoma is one of the
few san serif faces where the capital I is clearly distinguishable from
other characters.
