I try to write as I'd speak and this is as close as I can come to what I'd actually say to someone I was helping to accomplish a task.
Really? What I'd say is more like this:
"Okay, now look down at the lower right of the dialog box ... no, not all the way down there where the time is--that's called the system tray--I mean the gray box where you were just typing ... no, not up there--down about an inch ... See the button that says Save? ... Um, no, it's not a real button; it's just a smaller gray rectangle ... okay, got it now? Okay, click it ... no, not with your finger; move your mouse ... okay, do you have the mouse over the button? ... No, no, keep the mouse on the mousepad. I'm talking about the cursor ... the arrow ... the little black arrow that moves on the screen when you move the mouse on the mousepad ... Never mind; wait till your kids get home."
