Re: Pressure For Free Overtime
Question for all who do W2 contract work:
Do you ever feel pressured to work overtime for free (off the clock work)?
Perhaps I should just take it as read that I'm never going to derive any benefit from the US-work-oriented discussions on this list, but five days ago I thought I had finally found out what was meant by W2 (work as an employee?) and 1099 (contract/freelance work?).
Now we have W2 contract work? Aarghh! :o)
In case it's relevant, in the UK, the norm for technical authors (and other professionals) in employment is to work for a fixed salary, so there's frequent pressure to work unpaid overtime. As a freelancer, I don't technically have that pressure on me, but I do have deadlines to meet, and that often means working so-called `antisocial' hours.
Best wishes,
Sandy
