At the risk of sounding like a rube, can you do that, just write a book
about a Microsoft product? Don't they have to approve it or something?
You can just write a book about any Microsoft product (or anyone else's product). They do not have to approve any part of it. In fact, they will give you free software.
I think the professional word book idea is a really, really good idea and could very easily be sold to any number of technical publishers.
