Can you give me an example of an underscore meaning something in a
command? I never thought of this, either. I do note, though, that
hyphens are not used in either Windows or UN*X commands.
Some quick examples: underscores are used for
reserved variables and commands in Tcl, for
example, auto_load. In UNIX, they're used in
command and file names, and in Java, they're
required as a suffix for private class variables.
