When I interviewed for my previous job, I was asked if it mattered that
the SMEs all spoke English with heavy accents. I said that most of the
SMEs I'd met were barely intelligible -- including the ones who were
third and fourth generation in the U.S. -- and that I'd worked
successfully with all of them.
The interviewers got it, and I got the job.
