Back in the day when I had to use two typewriters so that we could maintain
a convention of having a different font for page headings -- yes,
pre-Selectric -- they quickly became "George" and "Irving". Maybe it's a TW

In UNIX environments where I've worked, sysadmins assigned fanciful names to all network nodes, including printers (Al, was your copier also a network printer?). One guy used the names of Finger Lakes wineries--except for Inga, which was named for a Swedish masseuse he met on a cruise.
