What I generally do is, when the interviewer asks, "Do you have any
other questions?" I say, "I don't think I have any questions, I'd just
like to mention that I'm impressed by everything I've heard and I hope
I'll be hearing from you."

Then I follow up on that thought in the note, quickly reiterating a few
things that make me perfect.

It must work, I've never been on an interview and not been offered the
job.
