I think the big question is, by the end of the interview, after you've
thrashed through all the back and forth and you're talking to the
last person, do you want the job enough to accept it if they made
you a suitable offer right then and there?  If the answer is yes, then
go ahead and try to close the deal, or at least move it to the final
step (their offer).  If there's a little voice in the back of your
head asking you if you're sure this was a good idea, that's
different.

My own approach is usually to ask if there's anything else they
need to know to decide if I'm the person they want for the job,
and to tell them (if true) that I am interested in proceeding to
the next step in our discussions if they are.
