In October, I posted a message asking for advice on a position I'd applied for after not hearing back from the company after several weeks. In a followup message, I provided an update after I was contacted for an interview. This position seemed so perfect for me. I thought the interview, which was October 25th, had gone very well. In the middle of November, I called to see if a decision had been made. It turns out they were still interviewing. On Monday, I received a call from the company, asking about my availability and interest for the job. Today I accepted an offer from said company. Geez that took a long time. But all along, I kept thinking I still had a chance.
Thanks for all the advice and good thoughts. I'm excited to start the new job but very sad to leave my current position of 12+ years. But the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) commission has put the government activity where I work on the chopping block. Within the next two years, they'll be closing their doors. Yes, the story has a happy ending but I'm still sad to leave a lot of great people and fond memories.
