They're right though. I've just been through that, and it's true. The
hiring managers will likely give you the same quizzing. I once lost a good
opportunity because the person who had to approve the offer before it went
out  concluded I was the sort to just hop from job to job, in spite of the
fact that all that "job hopping" was just ordinary contracting--with not
one contract abandoned before the work was done.

There are still not as many regular jobs on offer as contracts.
