Here's an analogy. Actually, it's far from perfectly
analogous to your situation, but perhaps it conveys
some of the flavour of the problem.
Say you're a lumber operation, and you've got this
forest. You've got more customers than there are
trees, so as you cut trees down, you've got to plant
new ones to meet future demand. But everyone's so busy
cutting down trees that no one has time to plant.
Oh, and you can't just go to another forest. All the
rest are spoken for.
You can meet the demand in the short term, but
eventually something's going to give. If being around
in the future isn't important, don't bother with the
processes. Work fast, fold soon, and free your people
to go elsewhere.
