I do not think it even has be exotic...just something that sticks out. I worked for years in a hospice/alzhiemers care nursing center before I went back to school. It is still listed on my resume. While it has nothing to do with tech writing, I have been asked about it at every interview and talked about it. It is definitely not exotic or out there, but interviewers find it interesting and I have had them say that it says a lot about my character.
