I upgraded to the "guru" level for a while. I found some improvement in the
quality of the jobs they forwarded to my mailbox, and I did receive more
invitations to bid than at the basic level. My use of guru, however, is
fairly casual, so I did not feel the difference was worth the amount they
charge. The use of the question board, however, is a big help both in
determining what to charge (and often in determining what the job is!) and
in getting a project award.

Are any of you freelancers or contractors familiar with or have you used
the guru.com website to find work? I have been a "basic guru" for some
time and am thinking about spending the money to upgrade to the "guru" level
for several reasons. One is the opportunity to bid on more jobs; others are
the extra privileges provided such as attaching samples to proposals and
access to the question board. Any sage words of advice before I shell out
the money? Any other similar websites anyone cares to recommend?
