Try $65/hr here in the Portland, Oregon area and even that is not top of
the scale -- and yes, we do have those who will accept $20/hr here as
well. Generally speaking, you don't want to hire the $20/hr folks
because they know so little.
Hey! I resemble that remark. Ah, but I see you anticipated my reaction...
Now I'll get blasted from those folks. Fire away.
Not a blast, but for some companies it can work well - one with a very
structured documentation department which can utilize lower-skilled
writers/editors *while traiing them*, or a small startup who wants
someone not too snooty to answer the phones when the *single* admin is
at lunch :)
