RE: Singular or Plural?

Beer can be a collective noun, so "pizza and beer" is more euphonious
and parallel than "pizza and beers."

I guarantee you, when I go out for beer, it is definitely for more than
one. I mean, why waste the time, energy, and gas for just one beer?

Good point. OTOH, would you say, "Let's get pizza and beers"?
