Jeez.

Wouldn't it be something if that Timex writer is - but now _was_ -
simply a reader on this list?

We'd never find out the real story about how and why he or she did what
they did. Directive from above? Just didn't know better? An honest
effort gone awry?)

Forgetting for a moment the excruciating tone and the too-cute layout,
there are hints that the writer is not a native English speaker. Do the
other languages use the same awful tone as the English?

And in all fairness to the tech writers at Timex, the manual might have
been disgorged by someone in another department. I can't imagine a
professional tech writer using it as a sample in a portfolio.
