Subject:What's the word on Vista Help? From:"Todd Sutherland" <firetail_documentation -at- hotmail -dot- com> To:techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com Date:Thu, 08 Mar 2007 10:28:06 -0500
Hi, folks. The company where I work is planning to launch a new product line
this year, and in conjunction with that, our department is looking into
changing the look of our client-facing documentation. There?s some
suggestion the purse strings will be loosened for this project, so now is
the time to start planning for the next phase.
Something that?s come to our attention lately is Vista Help. It?s hard to
find that much about it, since we?re right at the arrival of Vista right
now. I?m wondering if anyone out there has a strategy for dealing with
Vista? what products have you looked into, what have you opted to use, what
are the contingencies for support on other operating systems? Currently
we?re single sourcing in FrameMaker, exporting to PDF, and also to CHM by
means of WebWorks Publisher ? which often leaves one feeling like the
Sorcerer?s Apprentice, flipping pages while the water rises, and so we?re
looking to replace it with something more consistent in its results. As I
say, now?s the time.
Any suggestions? Thanks for the input.
Todd
