Hi All,
So, for a long time now I have been looking for a decent and easy
method for keeping track of the dozens of projects in each of 12
languages and all of the sub-tasks, to-dos and notes that pop up. I
have tried all kinds of notes tools, to-do lists, task applications,
etc. You know the situation ... you're on a project and something
comes up, "Hey, Will. There's a typo on pg 63 of the Mill manual"
"Hey Will, did you see the note from Chris about the problem with CRC
and round tools?", "Status: the Spanish What's New manual needs to be
printed" or "Note to self: find a new lackey."
The problem is the tools I have seen are either unwieldy or can't
readily compartmentalize items. I would also prefer for this to be
web-based as I don't want yet another app running and I always have
at least one browse and a bunch of tabs up. We have our bug tracking
software and a while back we purchased a tool called TasksPro, but
none of these really work for me/the situation.
A co-worker suggested a CMS, even if used privately. Drupal was
suggested (wow ... the techwr-l site is new ... I had no idea!) as it
is modular and open source. The idea seems to be a good one as it
fits a lot of the criteria. One thing that I would also like is to be
able to look at all the items associated with a topic, e.g. English >
4-axis > (array of topics).
Does anyone have a favored solution to a similar issue or input an a
CMS that might be a good fit?
Thanks.
Will.
