TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Funny, this is one area where the Federal government (US) is actually trying to take the lead. Study after study shows that telecommuting improves productivity, reduces road congestion and saves companies millions in operations and maintenance costs. check the Telework Coalition, http://www.telcoa.org/ for some links and news on legislation.
As for me, my current contract required me to have a complete home office. In three months I've been allowed to use it three times. It's a global team, and most of my teleconferences include people from both US coasts and two other countries, somebody needs to explain to me why I have to be a cubicle to do that!
