I thought that stating "field entries must contain English characters"
(other than the statement being in bad English) could wind-up including
Monty Python bits and pieces. Perhaps the instruction could read that the
field will only accept "plain, ascii text." I think that I've seen that
before. I've also seen the error messages that a particular field contains
"illegal" characters, like I typed "Lyndsay Lohan," or something, but the
error message does show that I can enter a-z, 0-9, and some other characters
in the field. I'd rather come up with an error message that I've seen
before than try to write a new one.
