TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Suddenly I flashed on the Star Trek episode where Kirk (I think) tells the
leader of the androids that take everything literally, "I'm lying." The
response, for those that aren't familiar with the schtick, was, "But if
you're lying, then you're telling the truth. If you're telling the truth,
then you can't be lying. But you said you're lying..." The lead android
pops a sprocket, gears fly out of his head (that's the way I remember it
anyway), and the crew of the Enterprise rescues the planet from android
rule. <insert dramatic Star Trek music here.> <Now, let's all sing the
theme song, "da dada... Da, da, da, da, daa-daaaa." Something like that
anyway.>
