P.S. I often think of technical communication as being analogous to the way the body metabolizes protein. Our bodies ingest proteins, then break the proteins down into amino acids and then reassemble the amino acids into human proteins. Technical communicators absorb information from various sources, break it down and then reassemble it into forms more appropriate for the target audience.

ummmm, not really....
Knowledge is assimilated information. If you read something and can't figure
out what the heck it is about, that's not knowledge, although some
businesses may call it so (in cricket they have something they call an
abdomen guard...).
Assimilating information is like digesting food. You can't do it for
somebody else... and....
