TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
The comment "there are more people than good jobs" presents an interesting
issue with the terms "more people" and "good jobs." I noticed that you did
not say "more *good* (as in qualified) people than good jobs." This issue
here is not in a match-up between the quantity for quantity, but in quality
for quality. A "good job" should have a "good" person and this is the
conundrum that employers are facing.
Reputation of the job is not really a factor for people, but when hacks
flood the resource pool for that job, then there is a reputation issue that
exasperates the issue of quantity over quality.
