Perhaps because many of us who have subscribed long enough to remember when Tony Markos was pedaling his particular brand of DFD and structured writing koolaid get depressed at the thought of such a person representing our profession? I find his apparent inability to handle cognitive dissonance to be rather pathetic, inasmuch as I think handling world views different from our own is an important skill for any professional communicator to have.
The willingness to cite television news and an unamed public website as sources for such disingenuous behavior speaks volumes though....
