Boy, I hope that isn't sarcasm! ;-)
I'm not sure if you can really say I "took it on". It just seemed to me
that Richard was sounding a lot like a SME with information to give who
didn't know how to convey it in a way that others could easily understand.
One of my specialities as a tech writer is extracting useable information
from SMEs like that, and asking simple questions about tiny data points is
one of the methods I use. It's tedious. It can get annoying, and I
generally try to leaven the interrogation with humour. But at the end,
voila! communication has occurred and understandable information has been
exchanged.
