TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Someone who is addicted to the third person and hates punctuation
carefully printed this sign at my workplace:
"Weapons concealed or otherwise are prohibited on these premises"
I *assume* the sign means:
"Weapons, concealed or otherwise, are prohibited on these premises."
But it COULD mean:
"Weapons concealed, or otherwise are prohibited on these premises"
So if I bring my weapon and keep it concealed, I should be OK, right?
(yeah, as *if*!)
I suspect I'm too new here to actually ASK this question without
getting a visit form the FBI - especially considering the ...err,
enthusiasm... of some of my car's bumper strips.
The sign has been progressively distracting me; I just had to share
with people I thought would understand :)
