RE: Checking for updated documentation

My assumption is that your website contains
1. an html entry page with a table of updated content
2. this entry page is sufficient alert to the presence of updated
material so that a specific "prompt" (requirement 2) is unnecessary.
 
In that case, any of a number of autolaunch utilities available
commercially should help you to autorun the entry page. You may want to
investigate www.autorunwizard.com. I have never used the tool so I can't
comment personally on its features. My reference to it is purely
informational with no product affiliation.
