At the risk of revealing my terrible dorkiness, I tend to use names and
company names based on science fiction, changed just enough to throw off
the scent. I have example users like Rachel Borg and Roy Sebastian,
though I thought the better of having them work at The Tyrell
Corporation.
For my user manual, I did have to come up with a company name that would
be used throughout. I had created about half the 500 page manual with my
clever name--"Phantom Industries"--when it finally struck me to Google
search for the name.
The first result was for a lingerie fetish site.
It took a few more days, but I eventually changed all the occurrences to
something less uh....suggestive?

I can't be the only person with this problem. I have a tutorial all
planned out in my head, and then sit and stare at a blank page for ten
minutes because I don't know what to name the examples. Example users
are easy enough (Though JohnSmith1 and JohnSmith2 may be pushing it
slightly) but with company names I'm always worried in case I use the
name of a /real/ company.
What does everyone else do?
