TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Fortunately, one can take specific courses of study and
receive documentation of proficiency from the certifying
bodies that already provide same, if needed. All the
tech pubs field has to do is agree what courses need
to be taken in the non-writing skills. Maybe we should
move on to that... once there's some consensus on what
skills need to be certified in order to write.
Yes, they do have their own certs. However, from a tech pubs perspective, we don't have to know each of them to the depth of their
own full certification. A solid familiarity with each of them should be close enough.
