Some engineers and scientists are seriously creative, funny (and/or messed
up)...I can easily imagine that FQDN was created specifically to cause
this kind of pronunciation and controversy.
Consider the name "signed" on a famous snopes.com hoax about raising money
for cancer or somesuch-- "Jessica Mydek."
