This is an unavoidable shortcoming of Word 2000. So far as I'm aware,
the only solution is to manually reset the font of the compiled TOC.
Select the entire TOC field, and then press Ctrl + Spacebar.
The only alternative that I can think of MIGHT be to use SEQ fields to
number your headings. This would have to be done manually, i.e. you'd
have to insert the field at each heading. But this would also allow you
to use the SEQ numbers for page, figure, and table number prefixes.
You'd also have to set a specific flag in the TOC field. You can look
this up in the online Help.
Try it out as an experiment in a smaller doc first to see if the SEQ
fields are better behaved re font size in the compiled TOC.
