Ultimately, PDF Watermark Creator was buggy and inconsistent, so I went
back to Acrobat. My original problem was that, even with a GB of RAM,
Acrobat 6 takes a long time to place the watermark. It also dramatically
increases the file size.
According to Adobe's site, Acrobat 8 Standard allows watermarking. But
does it do it any faster, and without bloating the file?
I think those questions are too subjective to ask Adobe, but I'd be
happy to get input from Acrobat 8 users on this list.
Alternatively, if someone has used a watermarker other than PDF
Watermark Creator, please let me know!
Thanks,
Dan
