I hate to admit it, but the built-in flowchart tools in MS Word are
pretty nice. Have you tried it? All the standard flowchart shapes
are there, as well as text, customizable lines and fills, and
connectors--which, like Visio, snap to connection points and
automatically route themselves.
Excel has a similar flowcharting tool. It's a little better than
Word's if you need flowcharts bigger than one page, or if you would
like a little more formatting control.
