Depends on your audience.
I do a lot of work with semi-formal teams of line workers. My own
supervisory training included a big push to "catch 'em doing good", and
my own personality leans in that direction.
Within our intentional and carefully-constructed breezy, friendly team
environment, regular awards of "Kudos" chocolate bars are a big hit.
Winning five Kudos results in an official "Attaboy" certificate award,
along with a reminder that 100 Attaboys are still wiped out by one
AwPoop.
We acknowledge that this whole system is nonsense, but people do still
make an effort to win Kudo bars. Go figure.
