I'd say it depends on the font.
All our user guides are in 10pt Arial, which looks fine to my young
(well, early 30s) eyes. 10pt Times New Roman 'looks' a bit smaller,
though, 10pt Garamond looks more like 8pt Arial, and for some of the
more unusual fonts 10pt is /tiny/.
On the other hand, if you find 10pt Arial hard on the eyes, I may have
to think my font sizing for the sake of those of my users who find the
same...
