If Lauren has the qualifications to perform a business
analysis and write all the documents associated with
one on her own then this may explain the difference in
her viewpoint, because she's a business analyst who
has the ability to do her own writing. In my world,
most business analysts are SMEs who analyze
requirements, identify issues and develop, test and
validate plans and solutions, but are not necessarily
any better at writing than engineers. As with
engineers, some are perfectly capable of doing their
own writing, but many need at least some writing,
editing or other publications support to produce
completed documents that are suitable for
presentation to executive management and investors.
