I checked a couple of references -- Hargis et al. (2004) and Wieringa
et al. (1998) (I can give full references to anyone interested) -- and
I found no specific mention of the perfective aspect.
In this instance, I would use Sean's suggestion, though I doubt "has
finished" carries any risk of misdirecting your readers.
