Certainly I think the industry trend toward continuous
publishing and product releases on the web that are
almost instantaneous are partly to blame for more hectic
schedules. But I believe also that it has always been
the nature of the industry that, as you alluded to,
overtime near release dates is required and expected.
IMHO, those times are balanced by the relatively relaxed
attitude toward time clocks in general and allowing comp
time at less busy periods.
