The threshold was set at $41 in 2000, with annual adjustments based
on the CA consumer price index. The number rose to a peak of $49.77
in 2007, but dropped to $36 this past January (I assume because of
the bottom falling out of CA housing prices). For those not covered
by the computer software exemption rules, the threshold is 2X the
state minimum wage, or $16 as of this January.
