For an interesting contrast have a look at the Mindset List compiled by
Beloit College about students entering college this year.
<http://www.beloit.edu/~pubaff/mindset/2011.php>. First on the list is
that for these students, born in 1989, the Berlin Wall doesn't exist.
The list is intended to help academics understand what freshmen know —
and what they don’t have a clue about. The list has been prepared each
August since 1998, and previous lists are online.
Techcomm connection? Even for us dinosaurs, getting into the mindset of
our audience is an interesting exercise!
