TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.

"We're not appreciated! We can't get no respect! We matter! We want
our mommies!!!!"
I would say that if the STC took action in this extreme exaggerated
manner, it would be a failure, and would be indicative of an
organization I would no longer want to be associated with.
Witness? Witness to what? A writer's job? Hell, we can't even come to
agreement on what that is here on techwr-l!
I think the STC is right to just stay out of it, but instead take
action BECAUSE of it to get the ol' house in order.

So long as the directions make sense. I've mentioned this before, but
the main reason I despise unions is that I want no one making
decisions for me out of 'my best interest'. The only entity that truly
has my best interests in mind is me.

Or rushed into unequipped. The STC is not equipped to take this on at
this time, IMHO.
