I've never worked with people who were unable to understand the term,
"technical communicator." I've worked at places that used "technical
communicator," "technical writer," "technical author," and "technical
publications specialist."

Cheers,

Sean

Where I work, "technical communicator" and "technical writer" are used
interchangeably by people outside my group (engineers, etc.). No
confusion.

Context is everything, I guess.
