Plus, you can make an entire row of a table vanish if you apply the
style to all cells (including the end-of-row marks).
I've had better luck with character styles. That way you can
conditionalize everything from a single word up to entire topics and
retain most of the formatting (i.e. the para style formatting).
I've offered it here before, but I have a set of macros that intends to
implement a simple kind of conditional text using character styles. It's
probably more than you want or need, but if you'd like to try it, you're
welcome.
It's only proven for Word 2000, but I'm confident it will work in 2003.
Not so in 2007, though.
