My primary consideration in obtaining contracts has been, and remains, the
ability to pay the mortgage. Secondary to that are considerations regarding
the nature of the assignment and its challenges (more challenge=better), the
ability to learn and enhance my skills, and the operations culture of the
client. Once I agree to a contract, I don't break it (although there have
been times when I probably should have done so).

I don't think I'd leave an assignment because they want me to work four
10-hour days; most contracts I've worked ultimately required at least that
many hours of work, especially as deadlines crashed.

But, each of us faces different circumstances and has different needs. Good
luck!

Cheers,

Donald H. White
