How do you answer the question, "Is technical writing a sellout or fallback
career?" with a yes or no answer? Are "sellout" and "fallback" synonymous?
If one is selling out, then what is that person selling out of? As a
"fallback career," wouldn't a fallback be the same as a starting point? So
what is the ultimate ambition? The poll question is not well-formed.
Personally, I think that technical writing is a valid career choice and can
be a starting a career or a final career goal. So it can be both a
"fallback," if fallback is where one begins, and a "sellout," if there is
supposedly a more noble final career goal than technical writing. So how do
I answer the poll?
