Subject:A new level of spam? From:"Guy K. Haas" <guy -at- hiskeyboard -dot- com> To:techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com Date:Tue, 19 Aug 2008 18:13:45 -0700 (PDT)
Hey gang,
Lately, my Mozilla Thunderbird mail client has been letting a lot of cr*p
through its Bayesian filters, not marking it as spam. Lots of "Brittany
Spears nude...." and "CNN alerts" and "MSNBC alerts" and "Acai cleanse"
trash.
Anybody else noting this? I thought perhaps spammers were taking advantage
of how folks are letting their attention wander because the Olympics are
on -- that THIS caused the increase, but that would not not be why the
Bayesian filters are not learning as fast....
Any ideas, or anything you have heard/read about what's afoot? Some new
way to trick the filters?
