TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Craigslist postings don't typically pay "market rate" for any jobs listed
there. I've seen tech writing jobs posted for 2/3 what I consider market
rate for my area. It's marginally better than elance for freelance work.
I'm sure the Writer's Guild of America (West) has market guidelines. A
script is a script - regardless of where it is "performed." If you are just
starting out, I would expect to be paid less than scale, but you should at
least know what "scale" is for this work.
